Xaus still in search of 2011 ride
Speaking in an event on the sidelines of last week's EICMA show in Milan, Xaus had this to say about his 2010 season: "It didn't go the way I expected. I was unlucky on occasions and there were other times I prefer not to talk about because it's not my style. I want to put this year behind me as quickly as possible and aim to have a much better year in 2011".
On the subject of next year, Ruben is still searching for a competitive ride that will enable him to increase his personal tally of 11 wins and 31 podiums in World Superbike. "In my career I've raced with private bikes and in factory teams, trying on every occasion to give my best. When there wasn't much budget to develop the bike I adapted myself to the situation, on other occasions I tried to make the best of the material that came from the factory's racing division. I don't have to demonstrate anything to anyone, I know what I'm capable of and I am fully aware of my potential so my aim is to find a team that will allow me to enjoy my racing, with whom I can share another period of my career and to do what I can do best: race to win".
The Spaniard's final thoughts were for Italy, the country that has adopted him ever since his first appearance on the world championship scene. "Without Italy I would never have become what I am now", revealed Xaus. "I enjoy being there, I've got to know some great people and have worked with some exceptional engineers. As for 'crazy' Ruben? Well, life is made up of many different phases and for some years now I've calmed down a lot. I now have a wife, who I love very much, I've got two splendid children, both of whom luckily are daughters, because otherwise now I'd probably be setting them up on mini-bikes! I couldn't ask for anything better".
